Funding Healthcare for the Uninsured: Mercy Care Foundation

"There are things the poor prize more highly than gold, though they cost the donor nothing; among these are the kind word, the gentle, compassionate look, and the patient hearing of their sorrows." - Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy

Who We Are

The Mercy Care Foundation is the fundraising arm of Mercy Care and Mercy Care Rome. The Foundation raises funds from individuals, corporations, private foundations and the federal and state government with assistance from dedicated volunteers and generous friends. These contributions help Mercy Care and Mercy Care Rome to meet the vast medical, dental and social service needs of the uninsured and underinsured community.

Did you know:

  • 50% of our patients are homeless
  • 60% of our patients are uninsured
  • 75% of our patients are at, or below, the federal poverty line
  • 100% of our patients are treated, regardless of their ability to pay.

Your gifts enable us to provide the quality healthcare everyone deserves.

Your donation changes lives

"Mercy Care is a natural program that expresses our desire to helping people..."

- Mr.Brown

Other Ways to Give

PLANNED GIVING

Planned gifts, unlike cash donations, are typically made from assets in your estate rather than disposable income. This type of giving may also allow you to provide current income along with current or future tax advantages, while providing future support for those served by Mercy Care. While some may think that gift planning is only for the “wealthy,” even people of modest means can make a philanthropic difference. The most typical type of planned gift is through a bequest, but there are many options. Learn how others have made an impact through their acts of giving to Mercy Care by clicking below.

STOCK and OTHER APPRECIATED SECURITIES

A gift of marketable securities that have been owned for more than one year provide a donor with two tax benefits: a charitable income tax deduction and a waiver of the capital gains tax. For tax purposes, the value of the gift is the mean market value of the securities on the day of the gift. For donors in higher tax brackets, these tax benefits may reduce the out-of-pocket cost of a gift of securities by half. For more information, call (678) 843-8670 or email mcf@mercyatlanta.org.
